Dear Lector,

InSight Crime is pleased to announce the launch of its latest investigation: "The Women Ensnared in Tren de Aragua's Criminal Web in Peru."

We follow the stories of eight sex workers who share a common experience: they are all victims of violence at the hands of criminal groups that extort and attack them simply because of their profession.

We invite you to explore the full investigation, now available on our website, where we delve into the vulnerabilities of sex workers, migrant women, and trans populations in Peru—groups whose precarious conditions have been ruthlessly exploited by Tren de Aragua and its factions to establish criminal dominance over the streets of a number of Peruvian cities.

We hope this investigation sparks dialogue between civil society and government institutions tasked with protecting these women.

If you have any comments or feedback on the investigation, please feel free to contact Lara Loaiza, the report's author, at lloaiza@insightcrime.org.

Best regards,

The InSight Crime Team
