Dear Reader,

Lately, many of our friends and readers ask me the same question:

What can I do — right now — when democracy feels like it's slipping away?  My answer is always the same:

Keep watching. Keep reading. Don't tune out, even when the news feels overwhelming. Choose sources that hold power to account, not ones that protect it.

Actively share factual information. When you share a link to a powerful investigation, you amplify its reach. You help make sure those in power know the world is watching. And reform can't happen without visibility.

Support independent journalism. ICIJ doesn't run ads. We don't have shareholders or corporate backers. We rely on direct support from people like you — people who believe that truth still matters, and that transparency is essential to democracy.

DONATE NOW

Your voice. Your support. Your belief in the power of truth.
That is power.

With gratitude,
