A networked multilateralism for present and future generations: Local governments at the heart of the countdown to 2030 16 July 2025, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Conference Room 3, United Nations Headquarters, New York More information: https://sdgs.un.org/events/2025LRGF Background The United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) will be held from Monday, 14 July, to Wednesday, 23 July 2025, under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council. The theme will be “Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals for leaving no one behind”. The 2025 Local and Regional Governments Forum (LRGF), will be held as a Special Event in connection with the HLPF. The event is organized by the Global Task Force of Local and Regional Governments (GTF), DESA, UN-Habitat, UNDP and the Local2030 Coalition under the overarching theme “A networked multilateralism for present and future generations: Local governments at the heart of the countdown to 2030”. It will place a special focus on the five SDGs under review in the 2025 HLPF: SDG 3 (Health), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and SDG 17 (Partnerships)—highlighting their relevance to local and regional governments and centrality in accelerating the 2030 Agenda. Member states delegates, UN Staff, and other stakeholders who have a valid UN Grounds Pass are welcome to attend the event in person without registration.
