(Anthony Vazquez/Chicago Sun-Times via AP) Chicago and Illinois sue to stop Trump's Guard deployment plan after Portland ruling Illinois leaders went to court Monday to stop President Donald Trump from sending National Guard troops to Chicago, escalating a clash between Democratic-led states and the Republican administration during an aggressive immigration enforcement operation in the nation's third-largest city. The program will run out of federal money within two weeks unless the government shutdown ends, forcing states to use their own money to keep it afloat or risk it shutting down, experts say. The move, while anticipated, is a bold one for David Ellison, new corporate leader of Paramount and CBS.
