The Seventieth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) will take place from 9 to 19 March 2026 at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
This event aims to promote a high-level political dialogue on political violence againstwomen as a growing threat to democracy and to women's political participation, whilestrengthening cooperation among States, political leaders and international human rightsmechanisms.
The side event will feature high-level speakers who will provide their diverse and innovative approaches to implementing the Women, Peace and Security agenda, enabling a dynamic and cross-regional exchange of experiences. Representatives from Costa Rica, Finland, Gabon, Montenegro and Qatar will present their experiences and progress on the agenda.
During this panel the Nordic ministers for gender equality will demonstrate how rights-based family policies – shared parental leave, access to childcare, bodily autonomy, and equal participation in the labor markets – strengthen families in all shapes and forms and improve the well-being of all family members.
Approx 2:45pm: Panama will deliver a statement on behalf of the Shared Commitments holders on Women, Peace and Security (Colombia, Denmark, France, Greece, Latvia, Liberia, Panama and the United Kingdom) ahead of the Security Council briefing on UNAMA. Members of the Group of Friends of Women Peace and Security are also expected to participate.
