Background
The eleventh annual Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs (STI Forum) will be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 6 to 7 May 2026.
The overall theme of the 2026 STI Forum is: “Transformative, equitable and coordinated science, technology and innovation for the 2030 Agenda and a sustainable future for all”. Special focus will be given to the Sustainable Development Goals under review in 2026, namely SDG 6 (Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all), SDG 7 (Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all), SDG 9 (Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation), SDG 11 (Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable), and SDG 17 (Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development).
Every year, the STI Forum brings together high-level policy makers and senior government officials with scientists, engineers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and representatives of organized science and technology communities, the UN system and international organizations. The Forum is a venue for facilitating the establishment of networks, knowledge sharing and the development, transfer, and dissemination of relevant technologies for the SDGs.
In connection with the Forum, side events will be organized on 5 - 7 May.
Participation
The 2026 STI Forum will be open to all those in possession of valid UN Grounds Passes for the UNHQ in New York.
Representatives from non-governmental organizations and other relevant stakeholders not in possession of valid UN Grounds passes for the UNHQ in New York wishing to attend the event in-person can request registration now using this form: https://indico.un.org/e/2026STIForum. Deadline: 21 April 2026 (5PM EDT).
Register your interest in speaking
Time permitting, a limited number of speaking slots will be allocated for stakeholders to provide inputs during specific sessions of the STI Forum (6-7 May).
Registered participants from non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders are hereby invited to indicate their interest in making short interventions, subject to the availability of time, by using this form by 22 April 2026 at 6pm EDT. Priority will be given to statements that are delivered on behalf of groups of organizations, including major groups. Criteria for the selection of potential speakers include:

- Number of speaking slots available;
- Official representatives of relevant groups/constituencies/major groups will be given priority;
- Experience of proposed speaker considering the themes of the Session.
- Relevance of proposed messages to the theme of the Session
- Gender, Geographical and age diversity;
- Only one request per organization will be considered – Duplicated nominations from the same organization and/or participant will not be considered.
Potential speakers must attend the event in person and are responsible for all costs related to their participation.
