Background
The High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) will be convened from Tuesday, 7 July, to Wednesday, 15 July 2026, under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The theme of the HLPF will be “Transformative, equitable, innovative and coordinated actions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals for a sustainable future for all”
The 2026 Local and Regional Governments Forum (LRGF), will be held as a Special Event in connection with the HLPF. The event is organized by the Global Task Force of Local and Regional Governments (GTF), UN DESA, UN-Habitat, UNDP and the Local2030 Coalition. The Forum will highlight the critical role of local and regional governments in advancing the implementation of the SDGs through multilevel governance, localization and strengthened partnerships. It will also provide an opportunity to showcase concrete examples, experiences and commitments from local and regional governments in support of the 2030 Agenda.
Participation
This event is open to all Member states delegates, UN Staff, and other stakeholders who have a valid UN Grounds Pass as well as those registered to attend the 2026 HLPF.
