The Party of the European Left (EL) will convene its 8th Congress on 17–18 April 2026 in Brussels, bringing together progressive parties, trade unions, and social movements from across the continent. The gathering will focus on shaping a shared political strategy for a more just and democratic Europe.
At a time marked by growing inequality, geopolitical tensions, and the rise of far-right forces, the Congress will define key priorities and elect a new leadership. It will put forward a clear alternative vision: peace instead of militarisation, social justice instead of austerity, and democracy instead of division.
“Europe is at a crossroads. A different future is possible — one based on solidarity, peace, and social justice. This Congress is about turning that vision into a shared political project.”
Walter Baier, President of the European Left
