Now open: Call for side events at the 2026 Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs The eleventh annual Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs (STI Forum) will be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 6 to 7 May 2026. It will be convened by the President of ECOSOC His Excellency Mr. Lok Bahadur Thapa, and the meeting will be co-chaired by H.E. Mr. Chola Milambo, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Zambia to the United Nations, and H.E. Mr. Gregor W. Koessler, Permanent Representative of Austria to the United Nations. The overall theme of the 2026 STI Forum is: “Transformative, equitable and coordinated science, technology and innovation for the 2030 Agenda and a sustainable future for all”. Special focus will be given to the Sustainable Development Goals under review in 2026, namely SDG 6 (Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all), SDG 7 (Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all), SDG 9 (Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation), SDG 11 (Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable), and SDG 17 (Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development). In connection with the 2026 STI Forum, a limited number of side events can be organized by Member States, UN entities, intergovernmental organizations, NGOs and other organizations in consultative status with ECOSOC. Side events must be clearly aligned with the main theme of the Forum. Preference will be given to side events that are organized by coalitions of two or more entities. Submissions by universities, laboratories, and scientific and engineering organizations, partnerships and initiatives without consultative status will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
